Retinol... What is it? Why do you need it? Where can you find it?
Retinol is a more gentle type of retinoid, or synthetic Vitamin A, that helps to combat signs of aging and dark spots. If anti-aging is what your on the hunt for, look no more, because it does not get any better than retinol. It helps by speeding up cell turnover, a natural process that slows as we age. Cell turnover is also what helps dark spots to lighten and disappear, which is how retinol aids in eliminating them. It is an active ingredient and can be strong and damaging if not used properly, especially for those with sensitive skin. When incorporating retinol into your skincare routine it is important to do it in slow stages, beginning by using it only once or twice a week to build up your skins tolerance. It is also recommended to only use retinol at night because retinoids are broken down by sunlight. Remember it is crucial to apply sunscreen daily when using this ingredient. There is so much to learn about the benefits and effects of retinol, so if you're intrigued I encourage you to continue your research.
