At Ardor we swear by the power of gratitude. There are many benefits of practicing and ways to incorporate gratitude into your daily life, and we're here with a guide for you.

Lets start with why it is so powerful...

  1. It boosts optimism which leads to an increase in overall happiness. Gratitude is an act that focuses on the positives in life, and if we practice regularly it changes ones perspective on everyday life.

  2. It creates a focus on what you have in life versus what you don't have. Using gratitude as a tool to shift your focus is one of our favorite reasons we practice.

  3. It makes you more effective at whatever your educational or career goals are. Gratitude has the power to increase ones decision making capabilities and productivity because it aids in minimizing stress.

  4. It improves self-esteem. Many studies have shown that gratitude lowers social comparisons which is a major factor that hinders peoples self esteem. Gratitudes ability to decrease many toxic emotions, in turn leads to higher self- esteem.

How to practice...

  1. Writing down 3 things you are grateful for and why first thing in the morning or right before bed. Acknowledging 3 things in the morning sets the tone for the day, and in my opinion keeps you looking for the good throughout it. While at the end of the day, it can help to turn your perspective on a rough day around.

  2. Like a more organized and official approach? Try out "The Five Minute Journal," which provides a space for you to reflect on your life daily morning and night.

  3. Daily affirmations can have a major impact on how we approach daily life. Try some of these: "I am extremely talented." "I am determined to reach my goals." "I am capable of achieving my dreams." "I am strong." "I am beautiful."

  4. Do one selfless kind act a day. Whether it is smile at others on the street, complementing strangers in passing, or paying for the people behind you in line at a coffee shop.
